It’s a deal you just can’t pass up. Because of a very generous bequest from Grace Hansen of Omaha, Sullivan Hills Camp is opening up its doors to youth who wants to come for just $25. That’s $25 for a mini or full-week residence camp, complete with hiking, water games, fishing, Bible study, worship and the brand new Gaga Pit. Available programs are for 1st-12th graders. Registrations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. The typical cost for a week at Sullivan Hills is $235.
“This gift has given us the opportunity to share camp with all who want to come,” said Nebraska Lutheran Outdoor Ministries (NLOM) Executive Director, Dave Coker. Sullivan Hills Camp is owned and operated by NLOM. “Families from across Western Nebraska are invited to send their kids to Sullivan Hills Camp. There is no better way to honor the memory of Grace Hansen, a generous woman who loved what camp gave kids, than to give it away!”
Sullivan Hills Summer Camp programs are designed to meet the unique needs of youth. Campers will spend time with their counselors exploring, discovering and growing through games, songs, fishing, paddle boating, homestead activities, Bible study, kayaking, archery and worship. And, the newly constructed Gaga Pit, a new game area provides a space where campers engage in high energy fun!
Well-trained college-age counselors guide campers through their week. “These role models offer so much more than just the ability to lead a hike,” said Coker, “they are caring, faith-filled role models for all of the campers.” All staff members participate in ten days of extensive training to learn about safety, Bible study, teaching techniques, age characteristics, age-appropriate camp activities and the ins and outs of camp life.
