Family S’moregasbord Campfire

Updated: Dec 18, 2020

Virtual school is over, you've watched every age appropriate option on Disney+/Netflix/Hulu, and the dog is tired of walking… what if tonight, you ask your camper(s) to lead a Family S’moregasbord around a [real or pretend] campfire? It’s a staple activity during your camper’s time here at camp.

Here are a few silly songs we sing at S’moregasbord. Ask your camper(s) what other songs and skits they remember.

Bananas

sing together.

Bananas of the world, unite! (Put arms palms together above your head)

Verse 1:

Peel bananas! Peel, peel bananas! (Hands make circles while one arm peels)

Peel bananas! Peel, peel bananas! (Hands make circles while the other arm

peels)

Verse 2: Same as verse 1, but “slice bananas” where arms chop sideways

Verse 3: Same as verse 1, but “smush bananas” where hands smash together

Verse 4: Same as verse 1, but “eat bananas” where hands put food in your mouth

Verse 5: Same as verse 1, but “go bananas” where you go crazy

Can do other variations like: (Avocado (Go Guacamole), Potatoes, etc.)

Brown Squirrel

This is a repeat after me song. [This is a repeat after me song!]

Brown squirrel, brown squirrel, shake your bushy tail! (Bend knees and shake body)

Brown squirrel, brown squirrel, shake your bushy tail! (Bend knees and shake body)

Crinkle up your little nose, (Wrinkle nose)

And squish it down between your toes. (Kneel and curl body into a ball)

Brown squirrel, brown squirrel, shake your bushy tail! (Bend knees and shake body)

Brown squirrel, brown squirrel, shake your bushy tail! (Bend knees and shake body)

“Take these coconuts and shove them up your nose!”

This song is also sung about gray, black, and ground squirrels in different parts of the country, the last being a bit strange because ground squirrels don't have very bushy tails.

Singin' in the Rain

sing-together/repeat-after-me song.

Verse 1: (Sing together until the second “woo!”)

Singin' in the rain; (Toot-toot!) just singin' in the rain. (Quack-quack!)

What a glorious feelin', I'm---

Ch, ch-ch-ch, ch-ch-ch, ch-ch-ch---Woo!

Ch, ch-ch-ch, ch-ch-ch, ch-ch-ch---Woo!

Thumbs out! (Hold both hands out in a thumbs-up sign)

Verse 2: Same as verse 1, but keep your thumbs up until the break after “I'm.” Add an additional instruction, “elbows back!” where singers pull their elbows back after “thumbs out!”

Verse 3: Same as verse 2, but keep following the instructions until the break after “I'm.” Add an additional instruction, “knees bent!”

Verse 4: Same as verse 3, but add an additional instruction, “knees together!”

Verse 5: Same as verse 4, but add an additional instruction, “booty out!”

Verse 6: Same as verse 5, but add an additional instruction, “head back!”

Verse 7: Same as verse 6, but add an additional instruction, “tongue out!”

Verse 8: Same as verse 7, but add an additional instruction, “spin around!”

Verse 9: Same as verse 8, but add an additional instruction, “sit down!” to end the song.
